The approach to Pentecost is a great time to reflect more on the gift of the Holy Spirit and the role it plays in our individual lives. The amazing blessing available for every Christian is the gift of the Holy Spirit, but we can sometimes forget He's there, feel confused about His purpose, or limit His power. It's helpful to look to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ himself, who on the night He was to be executed explained to His disciples that He would send the Advocate to be with them. He also explained exactly what this Advocate would do to help them. In John 14:16-17 it says, "And I will ask the Father and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."
