ELISHA SERIES- PART 3

ELISHA SERIES- PART 3

REMOVING EVERY DEMORALISING PROBLEMS AFTER WINNING ELIJAH’S MANTLE

Elisha knew the day he got Elijah’s mantle was a remarkable day in his life. The mantle then signifies the power of the Holy Ghost. The day a believer got overwhelmed with the baptism of the Holy Ghost is always a remarkable day in the life of such believer.  Elisha is coming back with something extraordinary which cannot be purchased with money. He has been endued with power which no amount of theological experience can rivaled.
And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over. 2 Kings 2: 14

River Jordan was the first stumbling block standing on Elisha’s way. As he got to the brink of the river, he said, where is the Lord God of Elijah? Let him manifest his presence and power, as he had been wont to do unto Elijah.
As soon as he finished that prayer, the river parted immediately; by this God showed that he was with Elisha, as he had been with Elijah, and that his request had been granted.

We learnt here that though the wisest and best of men are removed from earth, God can make their successors wiser and better than they; so that the light, not only of his ministers and individual Christians, but of his church, shall be as the light of the morning, growing brighter and brighter to the perfect day. This was the first miracle which Elisha did after winning Elijah’s mantle, and it didn’t take much time. On getting to the other side of the river, the sons of the prophets who had earlier tempted and daunted Elisha later came to surrender and submit to his leadership.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Prov. 22: 29

If you can tarry and wait for the power of the Holy Ghost, great men will bow before you. Holy Spirit possession brings breakthrough in the life and ministry of any Christian worker. The real difference between Elisha and the other sons of the prophets is the power of the Holy Ghost which fell on Elisha in the form of Elijah’s mantle. The other sons of the prophets did not do a single notable miracle in the bible, but go along with me as we traced the effects the mantle of Elijah had on the ministry of Elisha.

Some of the miracles which God did through Elisha are;

  • Parting the waters of Jordan 2kings.2:14
  • Healing the waters of Jericho 2kings.2: 19-22
  • Tearing of the rebel children by two she bears, 2kings.2: 23-24
  • Supplying the allied armies of Judah, Israel and Edom with water 2kings.3:11-17
  • Supplying the widows cruise with oil 2kings.4:1-6
  • Gaining a son for the woman of Shunem 2kings.4:13-17
  • Restoring to life the son of the woman of shunem, 2kings.4:32-35
  • Healing of the dearths (poison) in the pottage 2kings.4:38-41
  • Feeding of 100 people with 20 loaves of bread and corn 2kings.4:42-44
  • Healing the leprosy of Naaman        2kings.5:1-14
  • Detecting and punishing Gehazi 2kings.5:20-27
  • Using a stick to bring out an axe that fell inside water 2kings.6:5-7
  • Revealing the plans and program of the king of Syria to the king of Israel 2kings.6:8-12
  • Blind folding the armies of Syria with deep blindness 2kings.6: 5-7
  • Declaring surplus at the gate of Samaria 2kings. 7:1-2
  • Predicting the death of the chief upon whom the king lean 2kings.7:18-20
  • He promised the king of Israel victory for the future 2kings.13: 14-19.
  • A dead deposited in his sepulcher was at once raised to life on touching Elisha’s bones
  • . 2kings. 13: 21

Elisha couldn’t transfer his anointing to Gehazi, his servant, due to Gehazi’s greediness and covetousness (read 2 Kings 5), the anointing went with him to the grave and that was why Elisha’s dead body could even raised the dead.

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet. 2 Kings 13: 21

We must be careful after winning the mantle, lest any root of pride spring out from us. Elisha taught us the following lessons
  • There was no show of pride in him
  • He didn’t try to commercialize the mantle. He didn’t request for money or any gift before praying for anyone or healing any one. In fact, he rejected the gift Naaman brought to him after he healed his leprosy
  • He never manifested self-esteem or self-glory of any kind
  • He didn’t manifest any kind of domineering spirit
  • He never asked to be worshipped. He didn’t magnify himself above the Lord God of Elijah
  • He pointed and showed the people that he is not the owner of the power but the Lord God of Elijah.

JESUS IS LORD
GOD BLESS YOU

Why did GOD Kill NABAL?

I came across a Story in the Bible in 1Samuel 25. This story cut my attention and leave me wondering, asking myself a question: WHY DID GOD KILLED NABAL?   I decided to take my time to dig deep into this Amazing Story and it is so Awesome what the HolySpirit reveals to me of this story. It is my Prayer that your life will be Transformed as you read this didactic Discoveries about NABAL, ABIGAIL & DAVID. Amen. Two of the Psalms, the fourteenth and fifty-third, begin with the statement, ``The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.'' When we read these words today, we might picture an atheist-someone who has come to believe, perhaps for philosophical or scientific reasons, in the nonexistence of a Supreme Being. However, we have no evidence that there were any atheists living in the time of David, to whom this psalm is attributed. In those days many people believed in a plethora of deities, but few, as far as we know, imagined that there were none at al...

DEAR MEN IN MARRIAGE

Dear Men is Marriage, Never allow your wife to have a house full of choirs carting and  heart bankrupt of the Word of God carting.  Else, you will experience canal workings in her pattern of communication. Later, her in-take to voices.  Disrespect does not happen over night, it is a process of neglecting the Word of God. We remain perfect as we continually reflecting the word of God. Absenteeism of it is a very terrible risk.  Don't cumbared the same with unnecessary things that matters  not else, like Martha, it will be means for excuses and venting frustrations on innocent kind. Titus 2: 5 says that they must be 👇 Be sensible, chaste, restrained (selfcontrol) have concern for the household, be kind, be subordinate to their husbands: so that the Word of God may be not blasphemed. You must help that destiny 👆 to be fulfilled positively else you are building another doctrine.  Aiyenuro Dele Kelvin Author TheCrossBlog
