JOB SERIES- PART 1

JOB SERIES- PART 1

GOD’S COMMENDATION OF JOB’S FAITHFULNESS
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. Job 1: 1

Job was a man; therefore subject to like passions as we are. He was rich, a worthy man, a man of note and eminency, a magistrate, a man in authority. The country he lived in was the land of Uz, in the eastern part of Arabia, which lay towards Chaldea, near Euphrates, probably not far from Ur of the Chaldees, whence Abraham was called. When God called one good man out of that country, yet he left not himself without witness, but raised up another in it to be a preacher of righteousness. God has his remnant in all places, sealed ones out of every nation, as well as out of every tribe of Israel, Rev. 7:9. It was the privilege of the land of Uz to have so good a man as Job in it; now it was Arabia the Happy indeed: and it was the praise of Job that he was eminently good in so bad a place; the worse others were round about him the better he was.

In the life of Job, we discovered that He was

  • Avoided evil.
  • Boycotted evil
  • Confronted, Conquered, and Campaigned against evil
  • Denounced and Departed from evil,
  • Eliminated evil
  • Frowned at evil
  • Gave up evil,
  • Hated evil
  • Isolate himself from evil
  • Jumped away from evil
  • Kicked out evil
  • Launched against evil
  • Meddled not with evil doers
  • Naive towards evil
  • Opposed evil
  • Prevented and Preached against evil
  • Quenched evil
  • Rejected, Refused,  and Renounced evil
  • Shunned and Subdued evil
  • Terminated evil
  • Uncovered evil
  • Voiced against evil
  • Withdrew himself from evil,
  • Xpelled and Xcommunicated evil
  • Yielded not to evil
  • Zeroed his mind toward evil.
Many people seem perfect before men but God sees them as evil doers. Many people we gave titles to are seen by God as workers of iniquity. Do you know that many pastors today don’t even have their names written in the Lamb’s book of life?

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.Matthew 7: 22-23

It is unpleasant to God to see people doing eye service, wanting to please their pastors more than God. King Saul wanted to be the man of the people, obeying the people thereby disobeying the Lord, and that was why he danced to the tone of the people. Many church leaders and founders today are like King Saul, they prefer to please their congregation rather than God, giving them the messages they wished to hear and not what God wanted them to hear.

Job was seen by God as a perfect man. This is brilliant! Those who claimed it is not possible to be perfect in this present world should go back to the bible.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Job 1: 8
God’s testimony concerning Job is that he was perfect. He had the same testimony concerning Noah
These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. Gen. 6: 9
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Gen. 7: 1
Can the Lord say the same thing about you? It was only Noah the Lord could found faithful in his time, likewise Enoch, Job, and Daniel.

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. Rev. 3: 4
In Sardis, the Lord said he still has few of his ambassadors in their midst. Can the Lord say concerning you that, I still have few names in that campus that have not defiled their garments, I still have few names in that office that have not collected bribe, I still have few names in that school that have not engaged in examination malpractice, I still have few names among the intending couples that have not defile the bed? It is who God sees you to be that you really are and not who men see you to be.

God’s commendation of Job’s faithfulness shows that he really had great delight in purity. God is no longer interested in sacrifice but in righteousness. Your fasting twice a week is meaningless to God if there is no purity of heart, holiness, and complete freedom from sin. What is the essence of speaking in tongues if there is hatred and malice in your heart?
Satan went ahead to argue that Job feared God not for his own sake, but for the blessing that he received from him. Satan means to insinuate that Job's piety is wholly selfish, and will vanish as soon as he finds that it ceases to bring to him a reward of earthly good. Those who contend that all good men serve God only because he does them good, resemble Satan and take part with him in promoting his cause.
The argument Satan is making here is that God has fortified Job with spikes and spears. He claimed that God has defended him as by an unapproachable hedge. He believed Job is an object of God’s peculiar care; and he is not exposed to the common trials of life.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 1: 11
The truth is that Satan's words are too true of many Christians today. Take away their prosperity and you take away their loyalty to God. God reaffirmed to Satan again and again that Job is not like those Christians whose loyalty and commitment to Christ depends on the challenges of life they are facing. “You don’t seems to understand the man Job that no matter what happened to him, his commitment to me will never be harmed”
And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD .Job 1: 12

It seems strange, that, God should give Satan such permission as this.  But he did it for his own glory, for the honour of Job, for the explanation of providence, and the encouragement of his afflicted people in all ages. Satan doesn’t have any permission to kill God’s people, because he that watches over them never sleepeth nor slumbereth.

Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Psalm 105: 15
It is only the compromisers and backslidden Christians that God cannot guarantee their safety but genuine children of God will never be destroyed by agents of darkness.
You have been sorely afraid since you heard that your land lady is a chronic witch. Why are you scared of eating her food again? Because you felt she can poison and kill you? You are even scared of going to her room to preach to her? Oh that thou will discover that he that is living in you is greater that he that is living in her. Hear what Jesus said,
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10: 19

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16: 18
